Wedding Planning 101

Congratulations- you’re getting married! Your big day is bound to be spectacular with the finest food, breathtaking décor, and superb entertainment. There is so much to do to get ready for your big day! Don’t know where to start? EK Event Group will provide you with some helpful tips and tricks to begin your wedding planning experience.
Stay Organized
First and foremost, you’ll want to get your ducks in a row by purchasing a wedding planning binder or creating one of your own! This is where you can store all of your important contacts, notes to remember, and most importantly your wedding checklist. While there is so much to do in preparation for your big day, a wedding checklist will help ease your mind and keep you on track throughout the entire experience.
Check it Once, Check it Twice
Once you find a planning checklist that best suits you, it’s time to get to work on checking off those boxes one by one. Most checklists will break down your planning experience monthly or even weekly leading up to your big day. Take a look at this 12-month outline to better understand what you should aim to complete each month prior to your wedding.
12 Months: Determine your budget; Select the venue
11 Months: Hire vendors
9 Months: Buy wedding dress and tuxedo
5 Months: Book your honeymoon
4 Months: Hair & makeup trial; Choose your cake
3 Months: Write your vows
2 Months: Send out your invites
1 Month: Create the seating chart
1 Week: Final dress fitting
What Plans are Most Important?
Whether your wedding is set for a year or two down the road or within the next few months, there are some important plans that should be made as soon as possible. Booking your vendors should be among the top of your checklist items. Venues and Entertainment Groups tend to book up as early as possible so be sure to reserve your spot for your big day!
